fleas...

flea markets everywhere!!
it was glorious!
during our weekend in nyc,
we dedicated a whole day to walking around brooklyn
scouring through tables of beautiful vintage-ness.

even the brick roads had me head over heels!

 we scooped this baby up for $5 {!!!}
to go with his friend from calgary {seen here}

then these little guys
{not sure why the band-aid, maybe for its simplicity and charm?!}
we had to get gray's initials in the letterpress letters,
onward with the collection of g's!!

and as if the lantern wasn't going to be challenge enough to bring home,
we stumbled upon this find
a very rare and delicate surviving map
of the 1939 world's fair in new york
{walking through the busy streets of manhattan was a little nerve-wracking with this one along...
but sooooo worth it!}

you see, a while back
I snagged a few photos from a box of old stuff from my grandparents...
I took photos like this guy here

just because it was a giant sphere and it intrigued me.
looking into what that was exactly, I found out that my grandparents
{living in new jersey at the time}
were at this 1939 world's fair and these were from that trip.

so now, we have these awesome family photos,
and a map to give them context...
{found in new york no less!!}
pretty exciting find!
now to have them framed...

home...

to stay {sigh}

we had such a good family tour
that it's hard to come back to reality!

first stop, our toronto family

{time with cousins}

{time at the zoo}

then it was down south for our new york family

{which means lots of beach and doggie time!}

{and playing around of course!}

{a big city trip too}

{making new friends in the city!}

{checking out the dinosaurs at the museum}

so much fun!
can't all our family live in one place?!
now back to the daily grind...

{which means I have to catch up on laundry!!!}
 off we go, buh-bye!
{more on our big city finds next time...}

that's talent...

husband {and grandpa}
worked away last weekend on a beautiful new fence!

I love the subtle detail at the top where the wood changes size!

they seriously got most of it done through the three day weekend!
{my job was to keep baby outta the way and provide some eats when I could!}

{tah-dah!!}

thanks to our super-awesome neighbour
{sooooo nice to have friendly people next door - this neighbourhood gets better and better!}
we only had to do one side of fence...
we're keeping her side open and keeping the illusion
of an extra big yard!

{now to teach the dog not to use her yard as a bathroom...}

ahhhhhh...

that's better!!

new roof - ohhhh yeaaaah!
here's a flashback so you can compare!
{see?? yuck!}

now this new roof didn't come without it's headaches!!

worst experience:
leaving half the garage roof exposed during a two day rain storm...
not good people!!
thankfully, the damage was just to the drywall and insulation,
and not to our many, newly purchased items awaiting a pretty home!
{and thank you to husband for babysitting the workers and getting it all fixed}

best experience:
well, we have a new pretty roof!!
what's better than that?!

all that's left now is this little guy above the door

but we have bigger plans than new shingles for you, sir!!
you're coming out of there and husband is making a newer, better you
{and straighter too!}

nothing but love...

for joe that is!
{especially joe on sale!}

we scooped up these beauties recently
{Gray approves!}
husband's going to build a bench for us to snuggle up on!!

hopefully the great weather will last just a little while longer
- we want to put these to good use!

slacking...

while it may appear, from our lack of posting,
that we've been a bunch of slackers -
it's not completely true!!

well actually, not true at all!
I'll have you know,
we've decided on two more "big list" items:
carpet and tile!
our options here are:
* 1 ~ sculptured stone
* 2 ~ uptown taupe
* 3 ~ matte grey

and the winner was uptown taupe!!
because it looks the best in the space while also being able to stand up to baby/dog filth!
{and that's not the pattern we chose - just the colour!}
the pattern looks a little something like this:
{oooooohhhhhhh}

and hiding on the left in the first picture is our choice of tile,
she's beautiful!!
she had to come home with me right away!

and while we aren't ready for these two additions to be installed -
knowing what we're doing is enough to check it off the list!

more to come from our super busy,
action packed week!
{I can't give it all away upfront!}
